The Plenum of the Municipal Corporation of the City of La Union agreed yesterday to grant His Majesty King Don Juan Carlos I, the Gold Medal of the City of La Union, the highest distinction granted by the locality.
The Union welcomes this year the 150 anniversary of its incorporation as a municipality.
To celebrate the anniversary, the City has designed a comprehensive program of commemorative events whose presidency has taken hold of Honor His Majesty the King.
Moreover, the International Festival of Cante de las Minas, which meets next summer its Golden Jubilee, also has the honorary chairmanship of His Majesty King Don Juan Carlos I in its program of commemorative events.
In addition, the Organizing Committee of L International Festival of Cante de las Minas has decided to award to HM the King's Gold Medal commemorating the event unionense.
The Chief of the Royal Family has confirmed the City Council that is under consideration the possibility that Don Juan Carlos and a member of the royal family he made this year appointed an institutional visit to La Union to commemorate the double anniversary: 150 anniversary of the establishment of the municipality and the Golden Jubilee of the International Festival of Cante de las Minas.
Finally, we recall the historic relationship to the royal family has had with the Union and to HRH the Prince of Asturias Castillete received the Gold, the highest award of the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas.

FAIR OF MINERALS AND FOSSILS
Moreover, the Plenary agreed to request the Directorate General of Trade and Handicraft of the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research in the Region of Murcia the granting of the status of "Official Sample" to the Fair of Minerals and Fossils of the Union .
The Mineral and Fossil Fair is celebrating its fourteenth edition of 1 to 3 April in the Old Public Market.
