Francisco Bernabé thanked the Ministry of Agriculture, "the implementation of this project will mean that 1,000 hectares of land in the municipality of La Union and also the city of Cartagena is irrigated with water of the highest quality."

Antonio Cerda recalled that the Region of Murcia with this system eliminates 97 percent of the pollution load, "a figure well above the 75 percent required by the European Union."
The line of treatment to be installed at the main sewage Union chamber comprises mixing and flocculation, lamellar settling, sand filtration and ultraviolet disinfection.
This level of treatment will allow new resources to a similar quality to the pre-potable water, which will guarantee for use in irrigation.
Cerda said that the structural deficit in the Region of Murcia "requires us to make further investment to provide more water, but added that" it is not enough. "
The works, which have provided an approximate duration of one year, have funding from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union by 80 percent.
