The action responds to an agreement between Public Works, City Hall unionense, the Ministry of Housing and the Fundación Sierra Minera, which will be about two million euros
The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, accompanied by the mayor of La Unión, Bernabe Francisco today presented 23 homes and a local social use rehabilitated through the Community Housing and Land Institute of the Region (IVS ), in the second phase of urban renewal and social development in the neighborhood of San Gil in La Union.
The works carried out are part of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, the City of La Union and the Sierra Minera Foundation for the comprehensive regeneration of the district, which represents a total investment of nearly two million euros.
This project already completed the recovery of 12 homes in December 2008 and the second phase also has state funding by the Ministry of Housing, which was listed as Integrated Rehabilitation Area.
"This project also involves the fitting of a total of 60 social housing, to facilitate the social integration of families through work in this institution designed for this purpose and serve as a vehicle driver to provide a participatory living, adequate neighborhood needs and conducive to cohesion of the interest and efforts of neighbors, "said José Ballesta.
The action includes the demolition of the elements in poor condition, sanitation facilities and the recovery of property and its environment, ensuring the elimination of energy deficiencies and improved insulation of buildings, the recovery of structural elements, improving accessibility and adequacy of public areas.
Specifically, it blocks two and three, with a total of 23 homes, with floor space between 51 and 60 square meters, and a new social support local people in the regeneration process started in the neighborhood .
According to José Ballesta, "are now 35 families who enjoy the facilities offered by the rehabilitation work carried out in these group homes by the IVS, where the regional government has so far invested nearly 1.3 billion euros, and which goal is to meet the needs that lead to progress and complete integration of the district of San Gil in the whole municipality. "
