The Deputy Director General of Mines of the Ministry of Industry, José María Zapardiel, and the Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, visited the works of Paul and Virginia Mine, action which is funded by the Ministry (200,000 euros) and City Council (100,000 euros).
The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, highlighted "the importance of continuing to rehabilitate our mining heritage, something that will make the theme park in the Sierra Minera reference to national level."
Subsequently, both groups together have visited the mine Vicenta cornerstone of Theme Park Project in the Sierra Minera.
Mine dates back to 1869 and remained so until mid-twentieth century, while for the extraction of pyrite.
This is one of the mines visited Europe's largest, with more than 4,000 square meters open to the public at 80 meters deep.
The theme park in the Sierra Minera, which have an area of 50,000 m2, includes retrieving a total of six old mines from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century: Mina Groups Vicenta, Road 33 and kiln Philo of the Uncompensated Mina, Mina Paid laundry, and Mina Paul and Virginia.
The total investment amounts to 2,980,000 euros.
