The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Barnabas, and the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, and the Director General of Fine Arts, Enrique Ujaldón, presented this morning an important collection of nineteenth-century and contemporary art to be found exposed in the municipality of La Union the next two years.
The works have been released by the Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets of the Region of Murcia, in the collection belonging to the Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia.
Union Mayor Francisco Barnabas, said that "Pinion House becomes a true Hall Museum, thanks to this magnificent exhibition of nineteenth-century and contemporary art," which may "be enjoyed by all citizens," concluded the Mayor.
The Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage has given the work to the City of La Union for two years with an option for extension.
The collection consists of 34 paintings by Victor Hernández Amores, Juan Luna and Novice, Ricardo Baroja, Jose Maria Parraga, Manuel Menéndez, among other authors, and 7 sculptures.
Pinion House building, a Cultural cataloged, classified as monument, hosts this outstanding collection.
The building, one of the most emblematic monumental buildings in the Region of Murcia, is an example of local architectural eclecticism in the peak years of mining activity and has more than 4,000 m2.
The artworks are arranged between the ground, first and second building.
Moreover, the Mayor has informed the Director of the theme park in the Sierra Minera, which opened to the public will take place in the coming months.
This important tourist and cultural commitment of the Region of Murcia will be the main attraction Vicenta Groups Mina, located in the Sierra Minera de Cartagena-La Union, declared of Cultural Interest, classified as historical site, on 30 April by the Governing Council of the Autonomous Community.
The theme park in value will also gathers Vicente Mine, five mining sites: Countertop Ore and Mine Paid Philo, the Way of 33, a kiln and Mina Paul and Virginia.
The complex will have parking area, visitor center and a tourist train, miner who travel the 50,000 m2 of the park.
The project, funded by the local, regional and state levels, has invested close to three million euros.
