The Mayor of La Unión, Bernabe Francisco, has received today morning portmanero Sanchez Carrion, who was appointed unanimously an honorary member of the Association of Naval Architects and Ocean Spain in the last general meeting of 5 June.
This distinction is awarded to José María Sánchez based on their dedication to the board for thirty years in defense of the profession and also for its research and dissemination of maritime culture in general and shipbuilding in particular.
For the Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, "is a pride for all unionenses people like José María Sánchez, through their work and talent, a brilliant way to represent our city in every corner of the country"
Sanchez, who finished his career at the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Ingenieros Navales de Madrid, has published over thirty articles on the history of shipbuilding.
Similarly, he has participated in several national and international conferences on the topic.
The Association of Naval Architects and Ocean Spain was created in 1929 at the initiative of naval engineers, belonging to the former Spanish Society of Shipbuilding, also worked in the Arsenal in Cartagena.
Currently covers all the marine engineers from Spain and has been awarded the title of honorary member in its history to 27 engineers.
For the second time, it gives life as an engineer in recognition of his career.
