Within the comprehensive rehabilitation project in the neighborhood of San Gil in La Union, have started demolition of the central block of the site.
Demolition work has been contracted by the Autonomous Region with an amount of 180,000 euros.
Works are expected to be completed by this month.
It may be recalled that last December it was getting delivery of the first twelve homes rehabilitated.
This first phase district comprehensive recovery of an investment of 600,000 euros.
On the other hand, is developing the second phase of rehabilitation of buildings and houses in the neighborhood of San Gil, actions affecting a total of 48 buildings, works, recovery of structural elements of buildings, accessibility, appropriateness of common elements and habitable housing.
The total cost of these actions is estimated at € 1,800,000.00.
In addition, there will be the demolition of the block at the right edge of the neighborhood.
In these projects, they added the next start of construction for the settlement of San Gil Street, with an investment of 300,000 euros.
The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, stressed that "the comprehensive rehabilitation of the district of San Gil and its environment involves an investment of close to 3 million euros."
In parallel with urban development, the Department of Social Services City through the Roma Development Plan, continues to develop social intervention activities to ensure the integration of the Roma in the municipality, in constant collaboration with the Institute for Housing and soil.
Finally, the Foundation continues to offer workshops Sierra Minera of leisure in the social center of the neighborhood.
