The Municipal Socialist Party spokesman in La Union, Mariano Oliver, and the Socialist councilors Pedro Lopez and Isabel Rodriguez met yesterday with the delegate of the Government in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar.
In this interview, the socialist municipal group in this town expressed to delegate their opposition to the construction of Container Terminal at El Gorguel and requested to transmit to the Ministry of Ports Development and the State agency to give priority to the regeneration of Portman Bay on the draft Gorguel.
The representatives of the PSOE in La Union Gonzalez Tovar indicated that in his opinion, both projects are absolutely incompatible, and must have absolute priority regeneration Portman Bay.
In this sense, the Socialist councilors have asked the government delegate to request the State Ports and the Ministry of Development to urge the President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, to opt for the regeneration of the Portman Bay and Gorguel renounce the project.
González Tovar is committed to the Socialist councilors to transmit their requests to these bodies at the earliest.
At the same time, during the interview, the delegate of the Government and the Socialist councilors commented on the development of various projects that the Local Investment Fund of the Government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is developing in La Union, which represents an investment of 2,915,714 euros this year.
