The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, representatives of the Platform in Defense of Public Education Union and the Director General of Department, María José Jiménez, have held a meeting in which they have dealt with various issues of interest to public education in the mining town.
On 12 March, the three political parties represented in the municipality of La Union (PP, PSOE and IU) endorsed the proposals of the Platform in Defense of Public Education in La Union led to the plenary of the Corporation.
Platform proposals focus on the petition for the improvement of educational infrastructures and the need to create a plan to correct the inequalities in the distribution of schooling of immigrant students from public education and concerted, with To provide the best educational services to this group.
The Director General of Department, María José Jiménez, has informed of the activities that made the Ministry of Education in La Union and the construction of a multipurpose room in the IES María Salcedo Cegarra a cost of 150,000 euros.

María José Jiménez has proved receptive to the proposals of the Platform in Defense of Public Education Union, while it has expressed its willingness to study them to continue to help public education in the municipality of La Union.
For his part, Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, expressed his satisfaction with the development of a meeting which he described as "positive."

The three sides agreed to hold the next meeting to agree on concrete mechanisms it can continue to work for public education in the Union.
