The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, and the Rector of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Gómez Cobacho have signed at the headquarters of the Rector of the University, a collaboration agreement whereby the educational institution give advice on heritage industrial and mining history and the City unionense.
The agreement aims at promoting the development of research on the mining history of the town of La Union, the preservation and better understanding of their heritage.
The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, stressed the importance of this agreement for "the preservation and dissemination of the rich mining heritage of the Union", which "will help ensure our history and roots."
"It is essential to further enhance the possibilities that our mining heritage offers the future of the Union, given the ambitious project we are promoting: Theme Park de la Sierra Minera will revolve around the mine Groups Vicenta" added Barnabas.
Finally, Francisco Bernabé has expressed a "guarantee that our City is to have the assistance of an educational institution's prestige and recognition of the University of Murcia."
Among the actions planned include the following:
The recovery of files and documents relating to mining companies, as well as cataloging and making available of such material for scientific research.
The promotion of joint use of the bibliographic and documentary by each of the institutions.
Provide the means to operate and build databases of historical information about mining.
Establish operational plans for partial or total recovery of the mining and industrial heritage within the municipality.
Seminars, congresses and conferences related to mining.
Provide the resources necessary to facilitate the disclosure and dissemination of knowledge of mining through its regular publications for specific study.
Teachers Miguel Pérez de Perceval Verde, Miguel Angel López Morell, Department of Applied Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, will work with the city of La Union through the development of studies, reports and proposals.
Murcia University undertakes to make available to the City of La Union experience and knowledge of the history of mining and business to collaborate in activities, reports or studies to be performed under this agreement and to advise on historical research work, use of documentary heritage and historical development of historical databases economics, among others.
