On Monday March 2, Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, and Councilwoman of Women, Mary Hermogenes, kicked off the events planned to commemorate the International Day of Working Women, at a ceremony held in the Old Market groups, with the opening of the painting exhibition "Women of the Union", held by the paint shop Abiet Amparo.
In the afternoon, the City Council of Institutional Relations, Juana Sanchez, accompanied by the Councillor for Women, Mary Hermogenes, and the Secretary of the Jury, José Antonio Muñoz, has read the jury's awards on the National Competition XIV Poetry "City of Union."
The list of winners is as follows:
First Prize (500 euros).
Aroa Pérez Jiménez (Toledo) with the poem "The Wind."
Second Prize (300 euros). Juan Jiménez Martínez (Malaga) with the poem "Defeat."
Third Prize (200 euros). María del Carmen López Alcaraz (Granada) with the poem "Nothing lost."
At the XIV National Poetry Competition "Ciudad de La Union" have been submitted over 200 poems, arriving to present works of poets from Venezuela and Argentina.
The event, set in the program of activities marking the International Day of Working Women, has been developed in the Auditorium of the City Council of La Union.
The events to commemorate the International Day of Working Women will be held until next March 8 as follows:
