The event, which was chaired by our Mayor, Julio Garcia and the Councillor for Sports, Laura Vincent, attended by members of the Municipal Government Team and more than a hundred people packed the venue with the intention of meet the winners of the III Sports Awards in La Union.
As expressed our mayor, the winners were more than worthy deserving of the awards given the high level of our sports clubs and athletes and people who work in the unionense sport, which continuously reap victories at regional, national and even International and promote the sport among youngsters.
The winners in each category were: the Best Sports Event, has gone to the Vedruna Foundation, for its 30th edition;
Special Mention category the winners were Munuera Francisco Martínez, Francisco José Campillo Sanes, Alfonso Martínez Conesa, and Martha Moyano Pocero;
in the category of Best Male Athlete, the winner was Francisco José Díaz Pozo (Club Roller Master);
in the category for Best Female Athlete Arenas went to Silvia Rodríguez;
and the Award for Best Sports Club, Basketball Club went to Sierra Mar and La Union Football Club.
On Saturday, more than a hundred people participated in the first edition of "Walks and runs with Caritas" which joined severally interested in walking and brokers for a charity to help Caritas La Union.
Our Mayor and Councillors also wanted to join this initiative, resulting in a supportive and very sporty late, great atmosphere and they turned to raise much needed money for Caritas.
The next day, on the morning of Sunday the prominence it had the cyclist ride "Overdrive", which this year has had its twentieth edition, which attracted over 200 cyclists who completed the non-competitive route of 14 kilometers between La Union and Roche.
They have collaborated in this initiative the following entities:.. Catholic University San Antonio (UCAM), Hero, Caritas La Union, Red Cross The Union Civil Protection, Scout Group Our Lady of Sorrows, Club Mountain Bike Mar Menor La Union, Fitness Zone 7, Cycles Curra, Mundobici Cartagena, Martos Cycles, Cycles Galindo, Club Ciclista de La Union, Moto Club, Union Mill Bakery, Bakery Camacho, Bakery The Garbanzal, La Tienda de Alonso Sánchez Ecominero.
