Tuesday November 25, 2015 is commemorated worldwide on Day Against Gender Violence, real scourge that plagues our society and has already claimed the lives of 45 women in our country so far this year.
For this reason, the municipality of La Union has expressed this morning its strongest rejection and condemnation of this violence with the completion of a series of events led by our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, who was accompanied by several councilors of the Corporation Municipal.
First, the Councillor for Social Policy, Rosa Pagan, read the Manifesto Against Gender Violence in the hall of the House of Pinon, after what has been a minute of silence in front of the Town Hall, followed by an emotional human chain in memory of all the dead.
Thereafter, Red Cross Youth has conducted the campaign "Connect your senses, all is love. Gender Violence in social networks" in front of City Hall.
And finally, from the studios of Radio Union 107.9, has issued a special program titled "A must appeal against Gender Violence: Care Centre for Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI)", which has Councilwoman intervened Social Policy, Rosa Pagan, and as responsible CAVI Cartagena, Social Worker, Josefa Alvarez, Psychologist, Julia Pedreño and Advocate, Isabel Iglesias.
The text of the Manifesto is as follows:
25 NOVEMBER INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
Today we commemorate the November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ...
TODAY, WE hear.
The United Nations defined gender violence on December 20, 1993, as: "Any act of violence based on belonging to the female or is likely to result in damage or physical, sexual or psychological suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or private life ".
Gender violence continues;
This year 2014 to date, have been killed in Spain 45 women by their partners or former partners, 26 children have lost their mother.
In our region, so far this year there have been 2,433 calls to 112 women victims of domestic violence, asking for help to get out of this situation.
The roots of this violence are on the persistent inequality between women and men.
70% of women experience domestic violence in the course of his life.
It is terrible to talk about figures of women victims of violence, because each of these figures represents a woman who suffers or has been murdered, a shattered family and a trail of unrecoverable pain.
Today we want to hear;
throw your voice to every corner of our region, say enough of violence.
No woman has to stay voiceless, no woman or girl by the fact of being ill-treatment must be raped, harassed, discriminated against, or used for sexual exploitation.
Today we want to hear;
the voice of women who suffer gender violence not remain silent in the corners of loneliness, the complicity of a society that does not want to see or hear what is happening.
Institutions, men and women must denounce any act of inequality, we normalize or not we consent situations where women are mocked or used as mere objects, as this contributes to gender violence.
We must end the violence, so today we hear you on November 25;
which together with the outrage provoked by this violation of human rights, also hear a unanimous voice of hope.
We hear you, do not be complicit in those who exercise violence, of offenders who destroy the dignity and integrity of women.
Do not consent macho attitudes, let no man use gender violence as a weapon of power.
All around us there are men who use women, humiliate the insult.
If you shut up, you're helping to keep the situation.
Step up and say NO!
Women and men must walk together, share our time, our aspirations, to be co ...
This partnership will only advance if we have the same rights, freedoms and opportunities.
You can only get a harmonious coexistence when the world, women, they are concerned with social justice, equity and equality.
Combating violence against women is not a problem for women is a social problem.
WHY TODAY ...
WE hear AGAINST GENDER VIOLENCE !!!
