The business ELSAMEX SA, which took over management of public lighting of our town has been working for months on the replacement or repair of all lighting in the municipality.
The new management system that provides Elsamex will mean savings for a total of over 300,000 per year, broken down under different concepts municipal coffers:
Over 92,000 per year directly as a result of lower power consumption to pay the supplier (18% decrease in turnover) since the agreement came into force.
More than 140,000 per year by the removal of lighting maintenance contract to date had been managing the company for that purpose USM.
Over 80,000 per year for insurance against all risks of street lighting (including theft), for the installation and use of the decorative lighting during times of festivals and by the works of network maintenance and materials used in them.
In this sense, the Mercantile Elsamex SA is performing at its expense exclusive investment of 1,037,361.42 euros in order to carry out the replacement of more than 3,500 lights and public points of light spread across the Union, Portman and Roche in addition to the installation of new control boxes 30 and 63 optical blocks in classic fixtures.
Likewise, he will undertake the implementation of public lighting in the Streets La Barca and Contrast and the Plaza Enrique Morente, and the installation of new streetlights in the Plaza Joaquín Costa and its surroundings.
To define the work to be performed prior to contract lighting, an external audit was performed by the specialized company Light Consulting, which conducted a study street-by-street of the town (over 500 vials) and changes herein proposed to perform under the new Regulation on Energy Efficiency in outdoor lighting installations, which must comply with all local authorities mandatory.
Once changes are made all luminaires, as directed by the municipal technical services and in accordance with the result of the audit, the light levels of each of the streets remain relevant to current regulations, obtaining a electricity saving over 50% of the initial consumption.
In addition, the contractor will perform the energy audit of 35 municipal buildings, in order to also get tender management and lighting energy consumption thereof.
Also planned performing various informative and educational campaigns among citizens of the municipality to publicize the advantages of the new systems installed savings, which in practice will involve lower consumption in over 460,000 kWh per year, the pair to a reduction in CO2 emissions to the atmosphere above 570 tonnes per year.
Our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, has described as very positive news because, thanks to the new energy saving systems to be installed, which are the sole responsibility of the contractor and at no cost to the City, it is also produced a significant reduction in expenditure which has been facing the City to date, which will allocate resources to new economic and social policies to promote employment in our town.
