Social organizations, neighborhood and environmentalists claim the deceptions in the regeneration of Portman Bay. (02/11/2014)

The social, neighborhood and environmental organizations endorsing this release, we've lived with gloom and stupor recent circumstances that is "stuck" the new project for the mining exploitation of Portman Bay, which has entered into a siding to became evident that ARIA International is not in objective conditions of solvency and ability to manage business and be forfeited to the convened by the Ministry since this is the only company that introduced competition.

After paralyzing the current government regeneration project approved and tendered Bay in 2011, which had the consensus of the competent authorities and all organizations, the Ministry abolished budgets heading to regenerate Portman and decided to subject it to the given to the company that promised to regenerate the Bay "free" to the public purse, creating hundreds of jobs.

A project of all, it was renamed the "idea" of a company "guaranteed" by our local representatives, we were "sold" the benefits of the new proposal, together with the blackmail of job creation figures as necessary for our region as incredible for a project of this nature.

And with the support of the leaders of the Autonomous Region have declared Portman Bay I resource mining.

Given the doubts we raise citizens' organizations on environmental and economic feasibility of this proposal we were disqualified harshly: "did not want the bay is clean as a whole, do not want that to be done without costing a penny to citizens and Above all, what is infinitely worse, do not want to have jobs in La Union.

I accused them publicly that they are playing with the bread of the many unemployed in the municipality and their families.

However, doubts have become certainties, and today we are no project, either public or private, to regenerate Portman Bay, when finally We started in 2011 and adopted a consensus project, which had gone ahead as planned, today would be almost complete, having recovered much of the bay and having created jobs.

Given this unmitigated failure, we demand:

1. That the Minister declare the contest void for mining use of the Bay and restore the "Draft regeneration and environmental soundness of Portman Bay", finally adopted on 15/09/2011 (BOE No 248, 14/10 / 2011), taking it out to tender immediately.

2. Include in the State Budget for 2015 heading for REGENERATION Portman Bay, enough to restart the project allocation process.

3. The City of La Union, the Regional Government and the Regional Assembly itself, unambiguously support this dual demand.

4. The Regional Government in any case mortgaging the future of Portman Bay granting rights to same mining Aria International fradulenta situation for the company.

5. The Ministry urgently convene the Monitoring Committee of Portman, which are unique in all the sectors involved, which participates directly representative of these groups;

and that the Commission will meet at Portman as we officially requested, and at the end of it, the head of the Department of Sustainability of the Coast and the Sea, publicly report the neighbors, as did the former Minister responsible for Environment after the meeting of the Committee in September 2011.

6. That the three public administrations involved assume their responsibilities and debug this serious fiasco.
