The Hall of the House last night hosted Pinion holding the Sports Gala II of our town.
The event was chaired by our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, and the Councillor for Sports, Laura Vicente, was attended by members of the Municipal Corporation and more than a hundred people packed the venue with the intention of determining the winners of the Sports Awards II La Union.
As Barnabas said, the feeling was somewhat bittersweet because the winners were deserved winners, but the other nominees in each category have been equally worthy more than deserving of the accolades given the very high level of our sports clubs and athletes who continuously harvested wins at regional, national and even international level.
The winners in each category were: Best in Category Sponsor, Bakery El Molino;
in Best Sports Club, Club Master Roller;
in the category Best Male Athlete, Jose Maria Murillo Miigica (Trial bike);
in the category of Best Female Athlete, Sonia Ruiz Escribano (Wheel Chair Basketball);
in the category of Best Teaching Center, Nuestra Señora del Carmen;
in the category of Best Sports Event, the Carbide Silver Regatta (Regatta Cruise);
Best in Category Defender Fair Play Campaign, he went to the Sierra Mar CB;
in the category of Best Work for the benefit of Sport, Francisco José Beltrán (Football);
in Category Athlete Revelation, David Martínez López (Chess);
Entity in Category Disclosure, MTB Mar Menor-La Union;
finally Special Mention for Sports Biography, the winner was María Roca Fulgencia Vergara (Taekwondo).
