In fact, she was the first woman chemistry expert Spain (later obtained a degree in chemistry).
Here, in the mining town, took Mary a childhood and youth identified by the crisis of mining in the Sierra, as well as the illness of his brother, the writer Andres Salcedo Cegarra.
Prevented by their ailments for years Mary became his personal secretary until his death in 1928.
For a time, Mary had a close friendship with the writer Miguel Hernández.
According to critics, many of the sonnets "The beam that never stops" are devoted to it.
Overturned in behalf of his people, political activity consisted of Mary his term as municipal councilor in La Union.
In 1980 he was given the name Maria Cegarra to Secondary School in La Union.
Mary was not prolific author Cegarra: just four simple poems books, tremendously human, full of emotion.
Despite the years that separate them, we find the thematic and formal unity of the body of work and the conception of his poetic world as a harmonious whole, "My Glass" (1935), "Desvarío and formulas" (1978), " Every day with me "(1986) and" Poems for silence "(posthumous, 1999).
In 1992, the Hon.
The Union City Council approved his appointment as Favorite Daughter of the village.
His death on March 26, 1993, was sentidísima throughout the Region.
At funerals, emocionantísimos and solemn verses famous sonnet where she sang glossed his death.
The Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo will be paid tribute between 18 and 22 October 1993.
There were poets, philosophers, singers, teachers and critics like Antonio Gala, José Agustín Goytisolo, Jaime Siles, Carlos Bousoño, Amancio Prada, Asensio Sáez, among others ... In 1999, the City of La Union erected a bust of the poet Lyceum Square, opposite the center where he taught his brother Andrew.
Poetry full of naked truth, lack of free embellishment, full of depth, purity of feeling and humility.
A sort of Emily Dickinson to the Spanish for its departure from the literary circuit.
However, should put his work saved around localism, in the area of the great contemporary Spanish poetry.
