The Commission on Environment of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, of which our Mayor, Francisco Bernabé, voice part as nationally, has been informed by the mouth of this new regeneration project currently Portman Bay pipeline .
Specifically, Barnabas has explained to the members of the Commission, which brings together leading experts at the institutional level in Spain in the field, the details of the initiative and the notable advantages of on previous projects, such as the extraction total of 20 million tons of tailings are deposited in the bay instead of the 3 million tonnes to be shuffled to date, which will mean recover funds and the original coastline of 1957, when in which discharges were initiated.
Our Mayor has also learned that the project will be made possible by the proposal from the private sector, which will assume the full cost of regeneration in exchange for being allowed to sell iron ore, particularly magnetite and siderite, which are still buried in between the barren lot that flood the Bay.
Our mayor has also stressed that it is not only a performance at zero cost to the government, but also to be able to generate between 600 and 700 direct and indirect jobs over eight years provided duration of the works of environmental recovery allowing leave the Bay and its environment in optimum condition for the development of sustainable tourism back and high quality project planned for the area.
Members of the Environmental Commission have expressed their satisfaction at the unanimous favorable outlook as presented by the project offering their support and advice with getting the good end of it.
In this regard, the Chairman of the Environment Committee has committed a meeting of it in our town during the second half of the year, in order to see first hand the situation of the Bay and all details regeneration project.
