The Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Pedro Alberto Cruz, and our Mayor and Executive Chairman of the Cante, Francisco Bernabé, Minas Foundation have announced this morning the first details of the fifty-fourth edition of the International Festival Cante de las Minas, to be held in La Union between 6 and 16 August 2014.
And no doubt this will be a year remembered for the fact that one of the most important communicators who has given our country throughout its history, journalist Luis Del Olmo, creator and host for several decades the legendary radio show "Players", is going to be asked to deliver the opening speech of the event, in an evening that promises to be definitely unforgettable and in which the brilliance of Del Olmo will point and followed an illustrious list of predecessors in office in highlighting names in recent years such as Antonio Lucas, Maria Duenas, Carlos Herrera, Fernando Sanchez Drago or Juan Ramón Lucas.
And by the great journalist, a great sculptor Cristina Iglesias recorder and undoubtedly one of the most important figures in Spanish contemporary art, at the same time one of our most recognized artists abroad, put the magic in a poster of event that promises to become one of the most impressive flagship references and flamenco art gallery features works by artists such as Tapies, Chillida, Valdés, Barceló, Canogar, Chirino, Gordillo, Arroyo, Lucas or Gaya, among others.
On the other hand, Cruz and Barnabas have also reported that from now until the 30th of April, the time left open for them to formalize their registration artists wishing to participate in the four prestigious competitions held at the event : the cante (Mining Lamp trophy), the guitar (Trophy The Bordon), the dance (trophy Desplante) and flamenco instrumentalist (Trophy The Reef).
The contests of the Festival de las Minas have an overall prize of 81,000 euros, which makes them the best equipped monetarily those held today, highlighting the Mining Lamp, with a prize of 15,000 euros, while the remaining three trophies have a budget of 9,000 euros each, with the remainder of the amounts intended for second prizes and other awards.

CRISTINA IGLESIAS
Cristina Iglesias was born in San Sebastian in 1956.
This sculptor and engraver, was National Plastic Arts Award and one of the most international Spanish artists of recent decades.
Cristina Iglesias was released in the first half of the 1980s and his international recognition came in the 90s where they could already see his works in prestigious museums such as the Kunsthalle Bern (Switzerland) (1991), in the gallery York University in Toronto (Canada), the Universal Exposition of Seville (1992), in the Spanish pavilion at the Venice Biennale, or the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh (USA) (1995).
The Guggenheim Museum in New York, meanwhile, gave him a sample (1997), which subsequently lead to the Guggenheim Bilbao (1998), the Palacio de Velázquez in Madrid (1999) and Chicago (2000).
Cristina Iglesias reappeared in 2007 with his door sculpture for enlargement of the Prado Museum, the first public work in Spain.
