Tuesday afternoon, after the conclusion of the regular weekly market was the moment that was and finally open to vehicle traffic both senses of the traffic in the central section of the main street of La Union.
This decision was taken by the City under the unanimous request by all the commercial, tourist and hotel business groups in the municipality, based on the need to optimize the traffic in the historic old town to promote economic activity and generate jobs.
Given the decline of parking spaces that this decision involves in this route, have also adopted the following measures in order not only to soften, but even more so to increase that notorious parking available in the town center.
The measures are:
1) All existing parking bays in said central section become free vehicle parking, being suppressed in these spaces the loading and unloading areas and bus stop.
2nd) The two areas for loading and unloading existing move to date against Pinion House and top right of the Calle Andrés Pedroza (Side Hardware Bath).
3rd) The bus stops on Main Street will be made against the floors Repesa, Pinion House, the Library and the Classroom Sáez Nova Academy.
4th) It will enable new parking areas and three plots in three perpendicular streets to Main Street, specifically at Porras Street (opposite the railway) in Arguelles Street (behind Café Mayor) and Alcocer Street (up to the Red Cross), with a global capacity of about 70 vehicles, which in practice will mean that more than 50 new parking spaces are generated.
5th) also proceed to relocate containers waste sites in the indicated section of Main Street in various adjacent roads to the latter, thus freeing their land area to generate new parking.
6th) Notwithstanding the foregoing, shall remain operational and parking areas at the sites solar Canalejas, Numancia, Méndez Núñez and Bailen Street.
