The International Festival del Cante de las Minas was yesterday cultural protagonist in the opening ceremony in Alicante of the new headquarters of Casa Mediterráneo, the agency that owns the foreign ministry's work to develop cooperation and exchange between Spain and other countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea belonging to Europe, Asia and Africa.

The event was attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel García Margallo and Development, Ana Pastor, who were accompanied by the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Alberto Fabra, and Ambassadors in Spain from Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Slovenia and the European Union, as well as by the general consuls of Italy, Greece, Sweden, Monaco and Luxembourg, among other personalities diplomatic, civilian and military personnel were among the five hundred people who attended the event.

The participation of the Cante de las Minas Foundation was reflected in an exceptional Abdon Alcaraz concert pianist, winner of "The Reef" the best flamenco performer the 2010 edition of our contest, who with his usual skill did enjoy all attendees with a flamenco show and guajiras bulerías.

Abdon was accompanied by a wonderful group consisting of Miguel Angel Orengo (percussion), Campo Gautama (saxophone), Veronica Sobrino (singer), Mara Luna (dance) and Antonio Peñalver (bass and guitar).

The general director of Casa Mediterráneo, Almudena Muñoz said in his speech that the Cante de las Minas is the festival's most respected and most international of all who are made in our country about the flamenco, and that this was the first step a public campaign promoting Spain abroad brand to be developed jointly by the two institutions.

Our mayor and chairman of the Executive Committee of the Foundation Cante de las Minas, Francisco Bernabé, has confirmed that soon will be released new promotional events Cante de las Minas abroad promoted by the Government of Spain, to be convert simultaneously broadcast in magnificent windows of the attractions of the Union, as mining and Flemish city, and by extension the entire Region of Murcia, as a cultural and tourist destination class in the Mediterranean basin.
