The Union Township, has successfully completed its energy audit of street lighting that can halve your electricity bill, which would save 167,269.98 per year, in the case of implementing the improvements indicated by Light Consulting, a company hired by the council to carry out the audit.
Light Consulting has examined over 849 areas (set of streets, avenues, parks, etc..), 3737 points of light and 74 command centers of the town, which currently has more than 19,000 inhabitants.
Energy data analyzed refer to the following: types of lamps and lights used as well as their powers and consumption centers, command and control regulation, and anything else that involves significant energy consumption.
The objective of the audit was to review the energy consumption of street lighting in the municipality and limit light pollution and light pollution.
Once the analysis, the audit has proposed actions to be taken to improve plant efficiency and reduce consumption, which will result in a cost savings of 50% on electricity bills, which saves 167,269 , 98 euros per year.
The implementation of these measures will require an investment that will be borne by the Energy Services Company that has been awarded the tender to be convened for the purpose.
The period of return on investment will be 8 years.
The municipality is committed to make the specifications for the award before the end of the year.
Reducing energy consumption also means the elimination of mercury vapor in the atmosphere and a saving of 571 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, which affects improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions gases that are so troubling at this time for the global society.
This reduction of greenhouse gases reported very important health benefits of citizens, reducing diseases and conditions associated with air pollution.
The public lighting energy audit has been conducted in full compliance with Light Consulting protocol Energy Audit of street lighting facilities developed by the IDEA and the CIS.
This action is the first program of measures referred to in Medea Project, signed by the City of La Union with the Regional Energy Agency (ARGEM), under the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research in the Region of Murcia, within the Covenant of Mayors initiative promoted by the European Union.
