The City of La Union has already taken steps to get two such important elements of our culture, such as the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Image of Christ of the miners, are declared of cultural interest by the Community region.
This has been agreed to our Mayor, Francisco Barnabas, and the Director of Cultural Property in the Region of Murcia, Francisco Gimenez, at the meeting have been in Murcia for this purpose and which has served to set the various procedures to be followed to obtain such statements.
The monumental temple dedicated to our patron saint, the Virgen del Rosario, is the architect Justo Millan to build and was completed in 1902.
The beautiful polychrome carving Miners Christ we owe to the artist sculptor José Jerique, whom ended in 1913, so that next year will celebrate its centennial.
