Councillors of the Presidency and Security, the City of La Unión, Carlos Martinez and Antonio Liarte, along with Councilman Security and Environment in Cartagena, Mariano Garcia, have held a meeting with the Director General of Environment, Teresa Maria Navarro in order to initiate the cleanup of the area burned last August, in the Regional Park of the Ashes, Calblanque and Eagle Peak, in order to prevent future fires.
These cleaning work will begin next January and will continue until spring in order to prevent new fires and condition access to the mountain for greater efficiency in extinguishing them.
Both the City of Cartagena, and the City of La Union have asked the Director General of the Environment and District Plan relating to fire fighting, which includes protected areas that are in both municipalities.
Also, it is conducting a study of implementing a video surveillance system to have early detection of fires.
