The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, opened today in La Union, a Centre for Child Care (ISC) large capacity (188 seats), located in the neighborhood of the Garbanzal, with an investment of 1,656,095 euros, of which 950,000 have been contributed by the region and 736,095 by the City unionense.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Mayor Francisco Barnabas and the director general of Social Affairs, Gender and Immigration, Leopoldo Navarro.
Given its importance, the project was implemented in two phases on a municipal plot of 2,194 meters squared, of which 1,230 have been built on one floor.
The center is divided into 12 classrooms for children between 4 and 34 months of age.
Two of the classrooms are for babies.
The new center replaces the current Garbanzal - now obsolete - located in Santa Barbara neighborhood.
In fact, last Monday, 126 children were moved to new facilities, which will attended by the same staff and during the same hours of the Infant School.
Continue, thus providing the same service as the previous center, although for the next course is planned to extend and staff.
Furthermore, in the municipality of La Union currently operates two Service Points for Children (EPI), in the hamlets of Portman (16 seats) and Roche (18 seats).
And, at the regional level, until last December, the investment in child care amounted to 42,159,582 euros, corresponding to 86 CAI and PAI of new construction and renovations and equipment 24, which equates to 8218 subsidized spaces.
