The director general of Transport and Ports of the Region of Murcia, Carmen Sandoval, the council of Infrastructure of the City of Cartagena, José Joaquín Albaladejo, and the mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, today inaugurated the construction of the Bike Lane linking the towns of Cartagena and La Union.
This bike lane is rooted in the protocol signed by the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and his counterpart unionense, Francisco Bernabé, in 2008, which highlighted the transformation of the N-332 on a boulevard between the two locations that would be called " Avenida de la Sierra Minera ", and the Consistory of the Union has already implemented over the past two years with the construction of a section of 2 km and sidewalks along this ancient urban crossing.
The municipal segment of the bike lane that runs through La Union, which had a budget of 290,000 euros, extending from the intersection of Race Irun and Murcia, opposite the Sports Centre, to the Place de La Esperanza, just where today took place the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the new section ..
And now Cartagena launches the construction of the section relating to their municipality, since the boundary between the two terms, at the height of Paraje de la Esperanza to the junction of Portman Road access to the city Cartagena, with a further 7 miles long, a performance that is expected to be completed in about six months.
The work to be executed in two phases, the first of which opened today, will run from the boundary between the two terms to the site of the trough, and have a budget of one million euros, financed 70 percent the region and the rest by the port city council.
