The Autonomous Community contributed 476,278 euros for the construction of Day Care Center of La Union, opened today by the Minister for Social Policy, Women and Immigration Bascuñana Joaquin, who was accompanied by Mayor Francisco Barnabas and the regional department management team, which in the mining town held its Board of Directors.
The new day care center, which cost 635,037 euros, was funded by the Instituto Murciano Social Action, which contributed 75 percent (476,278 euros), and by the City unionense, which contributed 158,759 euros.
The building, located at the intersection of streets and of Salto del Pozo, has three floors, built on an area of 335 square meters.
Ready to serve the population of the town, capable, in principle, for 40 people with reduced autonomy to carry out activities of daily living.
It is offering these people dependent service day stays as a real alternative to residential housing and institutionalization, easing, in turn, the burdens of their attention to the family unit.
Hence, this center has the services required to meet basic personal needs, as well as therapeutic and social health of older people in a situation of dependency.
In the current budget has been allocated 168,000 euros to finance 20 seats in 2011.
Currently, the region's public spaces are 952 day care centers and 2,307 residences.
