The Old Public Market hosts Union yesterday, and until 19 February, a great exhibition of paintings to mark the Week of Visual Arts, an initiative that has given a score of non-professional local artists the opportunity to show the public some 120 works of high quality.
The exhibition, part of the programming of the Fourth Spring Arts Festival of La Union, has attracted interest from a number of visitors, as was evident during the opening meeting last night, a ceremony also attended by the Mayor unionense, Francisco Bernabé, and several members of the Municipal Corporation.
This is a show where each artist expresses his ideas on the canvas in different ways, so the theme is quite broad, ranging from the Sierra Minera de La Unión and its surroundings, with symbols such as the derrick or the new Park Mining to portraits of movie icons or social Currently, the female figure, nature, animals, and even the Ponte Vecchio in Florence.
As explained by the Councillor for Culture, Julio Garcia, "we've doubled the participation of last year, as are 20 local artists exhibiting work in its different expressions, such as a brush, spatula or watercolor, but also its plastic level is truly impressive, especially in some cases, something that makes us happy and surprised us year after year. "
Among the list of artists called attention to the presence of three local policemen, and Salvador Ruiz, who has 16 years of painting still lifes, landscapes and nudes, Luis Perez, fan since age 8, who presented portraits of movie icons spatula as Paul Newman and Marilyn Monroe, and sports, as Andres Iniesta, and Sergeant Daniel Salomé Aznar, who after more than 40 years has been painting in acrylic and displays ten works of nature landscape style "new, fresh and consistent with the times, "he says.

During the five days of the exhibition, visitors can also enjoy the magnificent collection transferred to the 'Arts Week' by the family of Fulgencio Cegarra, collaborator in the artistic decoration of Cante de las Minas in its early years, and who lived with other artists of the stature of Pedro Ginés Celdran, Cone and Paco Asensio Sáez.
