The Director General of Water in the Region of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Rodenas, and the mayor of La Union, have made a visit today, along with a representation of local farmers, the municipal water treatment plant, whose works are tertiary cycle currently in its final phase and is expected to peak in spring.
During the visit, leaders, farmers and technicians from both the City and the Water Department have made an informative browse through the various facilities already in place to explain how it takes place in them the water treatment process which is then used for irrigation.
The system works in the tertiary treatment of sewage main, which have an investment of 1.5 billion euros, will retrieve more than one cubic hectometres high quality water, because thanks to this system removes 97 percent pollutant load, a figure well above the 75 percent required by the European Union.
The line of treatment that is being installed in the main treatment plant of La Union comprises a mixing chamber and flocculation, sedimentation lamellar, sand filtration and ultraviolet disinfection, which will allow new resources to a similar quality and will pre-potable water a guarantee for use in irrigation.
The works are to be financed from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union by 80 percent.
NEW FILTER ON PORTMAN
Subsequently, the mayor of La Union and the Director General of Water have been addressed, along with technicians, Hall unionense units, which held a meeting to tackle the project of building a new sewage plant that will come to Portman replace the existing one, which will be transformed into a pumping station.
The project, with a budget of 4 million, will culminate with the location of this new facility in an area of 15,000 square meters near the village.
This new treatment plant, which will feature the latest technology, have the capacity to serve up to 5,000 potential users at an early stage and may be extended up to two users at a later time.
