Tourism and initiatives at the supra-municipal as well as the promotion of new technologies and renewable energy, are some lines that will mark the path of change in the economic and business center of Union, a municipality that seeks to drastically reduce its unemployment rate to overcome the current economic crisis.
This is what emerges from the report submitted today by the Bureau of Local Employment of La Union, a paper product of discussions and proposals of the participants on the local socio-economic status, and includes a total of 21 findings that were the basis to achieve economic revitalization of the municipality and its consequent reflection in job creation.
The event, chaired by the mayor of La Unión, Bernabe Francisco, attended by representatives of local groups (PSOE, PP and IU), the Regional Employment Service and Training and the UGT and CCOO, as well as Federation of Associations of Entrepreneurs and Professionals Union (FAEPU) Welcomes Murcia, Fundación Sierra Minera, the Local Development Agency, and the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena.

During the presentation, has stressed the commitment to tourism as one of the most viable growth and development of the economy, employment and preserving local history and culture, thanks to the Miner Park, the Festival del Cante de las Mines and initiatives such as the Mineral and Fossil Fair, the impending Flamenco Art School, and the Museo de la Semana Santa.
Coordination between the different municipalities of the region through initiatives supra-municipal level would also serve to jointly develop tourist resources and industrial, as examples have been identified as the digital and technological project 'Contentpolis' in the The Camachos industrial estate, and other large investments in the Valley of tailings.
Regarding the creation of employment sites for emerging technologies, the City has sold to the CARM several plots in the industrial 'What Bolarín' through the Public Land, for it to implement a sustainable industrial architecture these spaces are intended for companies engaged primarily to new technologies.
To regenerate the local business community proposes measures such as retraining into new sources of employment, promoting the development of SMEs, cooperatives and self-employment tax incentives for new businesses opening, and a unique agreement between the Administration and Institutions savings for the promotion of employment in the Union.

The municipality of La Union currently has the highest unemployment rate throughout the Region of Murcia, with about 35 percent of the workforce unemployed.
