These works, with a budget of 2.9 million entirely funded by the Segura basin, are aimed at protecting and regenerating the natural environment and reducing pollution in one of the most valuable ecosystems in the Region Murcia.
The main reason for the implementation of this initiative is that all four wadis flow into the Mar Menor, which in case of rain could receive tows that reach this gap and cause environmental degradation, a fact that has facilitated further by the sparse vegetation that grows in the vicinity of the channels.
Thus, the works that are being developed consist of stabilizing the banks and bed of the river, the execution of works and road pass, the environmental restoration of the riverbed and its banks for the use of the neighbors, and the allocation to space for recreational and leisure areas.
