The President of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, and a special concert of the Symphony Orchestra of the region yesterday put the finishing touch to the Closing Days for the commemoration of 150 anniversary of the Union, which for nine days have filled the town of cultural and heartfelt tribute.
Valcárcel began his address by stating that "people who do not know your history can not understand the present and build your future", hence, recalling the pride of its 150 anniversary unionenses and its decision to recover the mines as a cultural center and tourism will not hesitate to point out that the Union is "in the forefront of municipalities in the region."
The Chief Executive also highlighted the work of Murcia and the constancy of the mayor of La Unión, Bernabe Francisco, and his corporation, for having placed back into town in the foreground, why said: "The Union will always have support of the region. "
For his part, Francisco Bernabé referred to the celebrations that have taken place in the municipality since January 1, 2010-the same day that the new Town Hall was established in 1860 - among the most notable being the opening of the Parque Minero with the mine Groups Vicenta the head, and the Golden Jubilee International Festival of Cante de las Minas.
The mayor unionense showed great satisfaction with the fact that "more than 3,000 people have passed through the town to celebrate this event, appealing also to the hard work and sacrifice of citizens to overcome the current economic crisis, claimed that "honor and memory to the Union."
Following interventions by the authorities, the Symphony gave a special concert conducted by Leonard Martinez Cayuelas, in which he played such famous works as the overture to "William Tell" by Rossini, the New World Symphony, Dvorak, "The joy of the orchard ", Chueca, and" The Grenadiers Drum "by Chapi.
