Following the board meeting held today spokesmen in the city of La Union has agreed that the closure scheduled for next Friday, October 15, in protest to start the regeneration of the bay of Portman, will start at 15.00 in the Plenary Hall of the Consistory.
This movement, whose motto is "Yes on regeneration and Portman Bay / No to the container terminal in El Gorguel", end on Sunday and is the unanimous support of the three political groups on an initiative by the United Left which have joined several associations of Portman.
Moreover, on 11 October, the mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, with his Team, met at the headquarters of the Partido Popular in Murcia with all elements of this political force to demand the Government of Spain including the work of regeneration of the Bay of Portman in the General State Budget for 2011.
The result of the meeting has resulted in unanimous agreement to table an amendment to the state budget in place requiring the inclusion of a budget for 2011 a significant amount of project costs, quantified at 120 million euros as a whole and that the works are tendered during the first half of next year.
Thus, consistent with the demonstrations that are promoting political forces for the rehabilitation of the Bay, the Consistory unionense has sent a statement to the 60 associations of the municipality and appealed to the participation of all persons and groups in the municipality that want to join the protest action.
