The 2016 Mining Lamp, the singer Antonia Contreras, will be a teacher of students who want to participate in the course of the International University of the Sea on "Letters of Cante Minero" to be developed in the municipality unionense during the first days of August.
In the house of Piñón de La Union, headquarters of the unionense consistory, a course on the "Letters of Cante Minero" will be given during the days 6, 7 and 8 of August, coinciding with the celebration of the LVIII Edition of the International Festival of Cante of the Mines.
The course, will be directed by José Francisco Ortega Castejón, has the incentive of having a whole Mining Lamp as a teacher.
Antonia Contreras will be in charge of guiding the students to achieve the objectives set as they are;
study a large corpus of mining letters in order to know their origin, their themes and their stylistic typologies.
Know the most characteristic letters associated with each of the mining styles and know how is the process of adapting the text to cante.
This course is part of the programming of the International University of the Sea, which this year will teach more than thirty courses in the different venues that it has throughout the Region of Murcia.
In this way, both the university institution and the municipality of La Union will be a cultural reference point at the international level, contributing to society its experience in the knowledge and transmission of a cultural legacy such as the analysis of the lyrics of the mining song, one of the main flamenco styles.
The course also offers the possibility to know and enjoy the charms of the municipality of La Union, students can enjoy the local cuisine to know the tourist spots such as the Mining Park or the beaches of Portman, without forgetting the International Festival of Cante de Las Minas and the surroundings of the Sierra Minera.
