The director general of Water, Andres Martinez, met today with the Mayor of La Union, Pedro López, to discuss the actions planned in the area of water in this municipality during this year.
The regional official explained that it is planned to build a reservoir in the sewage treatment plant, which will avoid the overflow of the sanitation network when there are torrential rains that contribute higher flow rates than the treatment capacity of the treatment plant .
The construction of a waterproofed raft with pumping systems has been projected to lead the water stored at the head of the plant and systems for cleaning and emptying the installation.
The project will be put out to tender next March.
It is also planned to build a pumping station and a wastewater outfall in Portman that will connect the sanitation of this town with the purification system of the Mar Menor, taking advantage of existing purification facilities, and be able to reuse the water once treated.
It is estimated that the amount of the project amounts to about 3,500,000 euros.
Finally, the connection of the Lazareto site to the sanitation network in La Unión has been discussed.
This area pours its wastewater to septic tanks, a situation that is intended to be corrected by the construction of a collector that connects the sewage of this environment with the municipal network.
The actions indicated are part of the II Sanitation and Treatment Plan of the Region of Murcia, whose objectives are to increase the population connected to adequate purification systems and improve the conditions of evacuation of effluents before their discharge into the public water domain, as well as Increase the volume of water reused.
