The Mayor of La Union, Pedro Lopez Milan wanted to commemorate the centenary of the events of March 7, 1916 in La Union.
The event will take place at the Plenary Hall of the City of La Union, on Monday March 7 at 20:00 pm and will feature the Official Cronista Francisco Rodenas, who recount the events.
On March 7, 1916 is a key date in the history of our town because it the first social workers in the Sierra Minera achievements were recognized.
After failed negotiations a strike that ended with repression by the security forces, with the result of seven deceased, started all strikers: Gabriel Gutierrez Sanchez, Francisco Carrillo Paredes, Francisco Molero Rubio, Herminio Añón Martínez, Ginés Sanz Giménez, Ana Cespedes Maria Soler Escobar and Valentin Alley
The victims were assisted by the Red Cross of La Union and the Servants of Jesus in the Mining Hospital.
All of them should read this tribute that the Mayor has highlighted as one of the first acts in which workers claimed their rights against oppression coming suffering.
