The International Festival of Cante de las Minas next month celebrates its fiftieth anniversary in August.

The Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in Spain awarded its 2010 prize, the national cultural event in the international scene, the Festival del Cante de las Minas de La Unión.
The award ceremony took place on 19 January in a ceremony in Madrid which was chaired by First Vice Minister of Spain, Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega.
