The 2020 budget of the General Directorate of Energy and Industrial and Mining Activity includes control actions with predictive studies, inspection and updating of the inventory of mining wells The Minister of Business, Industry and Spokesperson, Ana Martínez Vidal, has reported in the Regional Assembly of actions for decontamination and environmental recovery of soils affected by mining in the Region.Ciudadanos has highlighted their concern for the environmental and health problems that the Sierra Minera has and their commitment to regenerating it.The liberal deputy, Francisco Álvarez, recalled within the Industry Commission that “we are facing a conflict that affects different administrations since, despite the fact that we are facing a land for industrial use, we also have a great problem of character environmental ”, a problem that affects more than eight government agencies in various areas of the regional geography.The orange deputy pointed out to the socialist group that “they also demand that the CHS do its job on this issue.We hope that the Segura Hydrographic Confederation and the Ministry of Ecological Transition will also do their bit to make the regeneration of Sierra Minera a reality ”.Álvarez has reproached the PSOE for the "search for confrontation" instead of assisting the Commission with constructive proposals, since the central government is competent in the legislation of administrative procedure and waste.For her part, the deputy Valle Miguélez, and president of the commission, has insisted on the importance of working all the coordinated organizations "to offer a solution to this problem that has been in the Region of Murcia for years." Ana Martínez Vidal recalled that the current budget of the General Directorate of Energy and Industrial and Mining Activity includes control actions with predictive studies, inspection and updating of the inventory of mining wells: "For the first time in 20 years a specific inventory has been prepared , defined and complete, to minimize possible future tragedies ”.Regarding the Plan for the environmental recovery of soils affected by mining, of the 30 actions to be carried out, only two depend on this department: the safety and closure of abandoned mining waste facilities.The current forecast is that the closure of the waste facilities called 'El Lirio' (Cartagena) and 'El Discharger I and II' (in La Unión and Cartagena) can begin between the end of this financial year 2020 and the beginning of 2021 respectively), as well as in 'San Cristóbal I' in Mazarrón, in addition to continuing with the restoration of the so-called 'Brunita' in La Unión.
