The president of the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver, the president of the Cante de las Minas Foundation and the mayor of La Unión, Pedro López, and the chief curator of the Lázaro Galdiano Museum, Carmen Espinosa, have discovered the poster announcing the 59th edition of the International Festival of Cante de las Minas, illustrated with the play 'El vito' by Francisco de Goya y Lucientes.
Peñalver thanked the Cante de las Minas Foundation that during the four years of the IX Legislature have chosen the Autonomous Chamber to kick off the International Festival.
"That they have felt this Patio de las Comarcas as theirs and have made us participants in the 59 years of history of the most international of our Flemish festivals can only make us feel proud because we have achieved the difficult challenge of opening the Assembly to the citizens, their concerns and sensibilities, and to put public spaces at the service of culture and our traditions, which make us more human and contribute to social development ".
The poster shows the work of Goya, donated by the Lázaro Galdiano Foundation, which represents an Andalusian dance known by the name that gives the title to the picture, 'El vito', with a very tight and dynamic composition of a circular shape, in whose center appears a young woman who dances, waddling before a circle of spectators who jalean her with her palms.
In addition, a handwritten typography 'in blood' has been included to reinforce the image of feist and joy, evoking innovation in the world of flamenco and the festival, and which represents the Sierra Minera with a color based on the oxides of the remains of mining in the area.
Miguel Alonso Goya, descendant in the eighth generation of Francisco de Goya, thanked in video the election of this work by the universal artist Francisco de Goya, which reflects the deepest flamenco roots of the ancestral flamenco art, to illustrate a universal festival.
After the presentation of the poster, the Patio de las Comarcas has hosted a flamenco recital by the Sevillian cantaora, María José Carrasco, Lámpara Minera 2018, accompanied on guitar by the Antonio Muñoz unionenese, Bordón Minero 1989, and official guitarist of the Festival .
