The International Tourism Fair 2019 (FITUR) hosted the day of Wednesday, January 23 at 6pm.
the presentation of the 40th edition of the International Flamenco Festival of Lo Ferro.
During the event, which took place at the stand of Murcia Turística, and which was attended by the mayor of the Hon.
Town Hall of Torre Pacheco, Mr. Antonio León Garre, as well as several councilors of the municipal corporation, and of the president of the Peña Flamenca "Melón de Oro", organizer of the event, Mr. Mariano Escudero and the coordinator of the same, D. Francisco Aparicio, the poster announcing this fortieth edition of the ferreño festival was presented by the artist from Murcia, Carlos Montero.
The work, which represents the Flemish woman in a facet in which, commonly, is less represented, the touch, will be the image of this significant onomastics.
They were also present at the presentation;
the president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Mr. Fernando López Miras, the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Ms. Míriam Guardiola, the spokesperson of the Regional Government and Minister of Transparency and Participation, Ms. Noelia Arroyo, the Government delegate in the Region of Murcia, D. Diego Conesa and the mayors of La Union and Cartagena, among other personalities.
The institutional act of presentation of the festival, in which the importance of the 40 years of the ferreño event was valued, had its most jondo moment when the flamenco of the earth made vibrate to FITUR with the cante of Bastián Contreras, the toque of Antonio Fernández "El Torero" and the dance of two of the components of the Ballet de Lo Ferro, Carmen Contreras and Mamen Baños.
Before, festival coordinator, D. Francisco Aparicio, gave a brushstroke on the main lines of the event, which will be held at the end of July next summer.
The road, without forgetting the past, directs its steps towards the future, seeking the expansion of its borders, nationally and internationally.
In this fortieth edition, the master Fosforito will be honored, as one of the parents of the cante de Lo Ferro, the ferreña.
In addition, the flamenco of the land and the flamenco schools will also have their place in the program of the contest.
Some surprise, in the form of guest artists, remained in the inkwell and will be revealed in the coming months.
The prestigious "Gold Medal" of the Festival de Lo Ferro is full of substance.
The 40 years of the Spanish Constitution, which coincide with the 40th anniversary of the event, force the Ferreña institution to distinguish HM King Felipe VI with his highest award.
In addition to the Crown, the city of Cádiz and the unrepeatable Lola Flores will receive the recognition of Ferreño for their work in favor of flamenco.
The wish of our founder, Sebastián Escudero, is more alive than ever and the International Flamenco Festival of Lo Ferro continues taking steps in the dissemination of the land and art, of flamenco.
The fortieth edition of our festival has started big and FITUR has witnessed it.
