Luis Fernández "We have to denounce that there has been no comprehensive action plan on the Sierra Minera, and that the inventory of contaminated soils has not yet been developed, in accordance with the provisions of the law
Citizens have blamed the regional government "for their carelessness and neglect" of the socio-environmental situation of the Sierra Minera.
Luis Fernández, regional deputy of the orange training, made these statements at the end of the Commission for Territorial Policy, Environment, Agriculture and Water of the Regional Assembly, within the framework of the presentation on the socio-environmental problems of the Sierra Minera in the municipalities of La Union and Cartagena, which counted with the appearances of Pedro Martos, technical manager of the Sierra Minera Foundation, and Juan Ernesto Peña, representative of the Neighborhood Association of Llano del Beal.
Fernandez has denounced that there has been no comprehensive action plan on the Sierra Minera, and that the inventory of contaminated soils has not yet been developed, in accordance with the provisions of Law 22/2011 on waste and contaminated soils, and that should be in operation since 2012, "what has influenced so that the necessary actions that would have made it possible to improve the situation have not been carried out".
The deputy of Cs regretted that "the regional government has not demanded the responsibilities of Peñarroya or his successor company, Portmán Golf, which shows that the saying that 'the polluter pays' is not carried out here. Minas General Direction has the responsibility of having consented to these actions. "
"Those affected who have complained to the administration have received the answer that no action can be taken on private property, something that we believe is false, because the administration has sufficient tools and resources to enforce the law," Fernandez said. , who has influenced the lack of will of the regional government "that would have to take an example from the Sierra Minera Foundation, since with very little money they have carried out reversion actions that have had an important impact on the population".
The deputy of Cs believes that the Environmental Recovery Plan for Soils Affected by Mining (Prasam) can be an adequate tool;
however, the regional government spends a lot of money on studies and reports to get big headlines, but does not develop the project.
