For more than forty years the Association of the Cultural Circle Antonio Machado has promulgated Spanish culture outside our borders.
This association wants to continue integrating all those people who have left their country, Spain, and remember one of our most deeply-rooted traditions, Flamenco.
Since 2006 they have organized a Flamenco festival in the city of Esch-sur-Alzette that attracts spectators not only from Luxembourg but also from neighboring countries such as Belgium, Holland, France or Germany.
With gestures like this, they show us the effort they make for the diffusion of Flamenco and that this art remains alive outside of Spain.
The delivery of this important award has been carried out in the most unusual of places, the emblematic Mina Agrupa Vicenta of La Unión.
The Mayor and President of the Cante de las Minas Foundation was commissioned to deliver such a distinguished trophy to different representatives of the Association who have moved to La Unión.
There are many who form the Antonio Machado Cultural Circle but, among them, these were the representatives who accompanied us: Victoria Villalba, Paca Rimbau, Jesus Iglesias and Mario Velázquez.
Paca Rimbau: "The richness of the soul comes from the people who work, we wanted to maintain a bond with the new people who came to Luxembourg and today we see that all this work has been worthwhile. We are very, very happy for this important recognition and hope that this friendship that has been created will last over time. "
Because of the ties that unite us, for all the work done to keep the flame of Flamenco alive outside our borders, the Association of the Antonio Machado Cultural Circle is more than worthy of such a prized award.
