The Unionense José Joaquín Hernández received the highest distinction granted by the International Festival of Cante de las Minas.
The event recognizes the whole career of Hérnandez, promoter of the same award he received today in the Assembly Hall of the Casa del Piñón.
With the "Castillete de Oro" it is recognized the tireless collaboration of José Joaquín Hernández with the festival, in which he has collaborated for decades.
In addition, the unionense was one of the figures that devised and promoted the recognition of internationality for the event, contributing to its dissemination throughout the world.
"The main achievement of the festival is to have turned it into the main reference of flamenco in the world, the Union and its contest are the best repository of flamenco culture, and we must continue working because it continues to be like that," assured Hérnandez, thrilled to pick up the award.
In his speech, the award-winner emphasized the need to bring flamenco to the schools of the municipality, to make it attractive for new generations.
The Unionense also wanted to remember outstanding figures such as Paco Icarus, Asensio Sáez or Pencho Cros.
During the delivery a video was projected in which its relation with the festival was reviewed and in which Yoko Komatsubara, flamenco dancer who contributed to the worldwide diffusion of the contest participates.
"My obsession was to bring Japan to La Unión, the Asian country is one of the most popular in the world, and that step was key to achieving international recognition," said Hernández.
In the same scenario, in the Casa del Piñón, the "Carburo Minero" award was also presented to the Rondalla del Hogar of the 3rd Age of La Unión.
Shortly after its establishment and until this same edition of the festival, they have climbed onto the stage of the Cathedral of Cante to perform, among other pieces, the Festival Anthem.
With the delivery of this award, the Rondalla, made up of residents of the municipality, is recognized as an indispensable part of the festival.
This afternoon, also took place the Homage to the Miner, recognition that has fallen on Antonio Belchí, unionense who worked since the age of 12 in the mine, to which he devoted a large part of his life.
For her part, Ana López Ramón received the Homage to the Miner's Widow, her husband Gabriel Gil.
In addition, Pedro Ojesto has presented the book "The keys of flamenco", a book in which musician and member of the jury of the festival, makes a musical analysis of flamenco.
Ojedo also includes a compilation of the transcendent facts in the history of this art.
Finally, in "Las claves del flamenco", the peculiarities of the different styles are investigated.
In a few months, the work of Ojesto will be published in English.
On this afternoon session, the official publication of the "Lámpara Minera" Festival was also presented, in charge of the festival's communication manager, José Francisco Galiano.
The magazine includes more than twenty articles, including reports and interviews with prominent figures of this edition, such as Diana Navarro, Arcángel or the "Castillete de Oro", José Joaquín Hernández.
In addition, the cover of the publication makes a nod to the trovo, with the poster of the Trovos Contest, prepared by Hernández Cop.
