The president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, and the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, Isabel García Tejerina, visited today the regeneration works of Portman Bay, where the Government of Spain is investing 33 million euros. euros to solve "one of the greatest ecological disasters in the history of Spain," said the president in reference to the pollution suffered by this bay until 1990 due to discharges from La Union mines.
"They have been many years of ecological disaster but the central government is willing to solve it," said Lopez Miras, referring to the investment of 33 million euros that are allocated to these regeneration works and, among other things, will recover 250 meters of coastline with the withdrawal of 2 million cubic meters of waste.
