The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, and the Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, presided the opening ceremony of the EcoPark of premises for the collection of recoverable municipal waste and special house of origin.
The EcoPark will allow a substantial improvement in environmental quality in the city, residents have a place to deposit waste free of all kinds such as furniture, appliances, batteries, debris and oils, which are the major new level permanent collection as well as more traditional plastic, glass, organic or paper and cardboard.
The Mayor, Francisco Barnabas, said that "the implementation of this infrastructure is excellent news for our town by the positive effects it has for the environment of La Union."
The EcoPark is composed of a modular set of buildings that host four types of facilities: walk-in access control, storage of hazardous waste, solid waste storage, no special or bulky and Environmental Education Workshop, warehouse maintenance and toilets.
It also has green areas and parking systems, wastewater treatment and solar panels.
The EcoPark, built on a plot of municipal property in the area of Los Cobacho, occupies an area of 1,685 m2, and has come at a cost of 192,700 euros, financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water of the Autonomous Community, which hits 240,000 euros after the investment that the City intends to undertake in this infrastructure.
From this moment, and given that the Ministry has been paid to the City of Ecoparque delivery, the City has a period of three months for implementation under an agreement between the local Town Hall and the regional administration.
