Inauguration of the refurbishment and upgrading of the Cultural Centre and the Royal Street, financed by the Government of Spain (27/04/2010)

The Government of Spain has transferred to La Union with a total of 4.7 million between 2009 and 2010

The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, with the mayor of La Unión, Bernabe Francisco, has opened the refurbishment and upgrading of the Calle Real and Cultural Center "Asensio Sáez, financed entirely by the Government of Spain under the Plan E, which together have led to the investment of 1 million euros.

In the remodeling of Calle Real has invested a total of 700,000 euros and the works have generated 44 jobs, 28 of them occupied by regular staff of the contractor and 16 newly created posts.

The works have resulted in the improvement of water distribution and drainage, while it has been completely renovated sidewalks, pavement and signage.

It has also been involved in the preparation of places Castelar, Sources and built the first bike path in the municipality.

These are actions that together help to improve circulation and traffic safety of the Union.

Regarding the adequacy of the building works Cultural Center "Asensio Sáez, have required an investment of 300,000 euros and the work of 13 people.

The building has been fitted on the front, first and second floor rooms fitted with new partnerships, an auditorium with seating for 207 people and a music room.

It has also replaced the sound system, lighting and air conditioning by providing the city a modern and functional infrastructure, suitable for meetings, cultural events and exhibitions.

González Tovar said today that "it was worth the financial effort that the Government of Spain has to, through this investment, helping create jobs, boost the economy and create the necessary infrastructure of the municipality."

4.7 million euros between 2009 and 2010

As is known, the Local Investment Fund went to La Union, in 2009, 2,915,173 euros for the implementation of 10 actions that have generated 157 jobs, of which 71 are newly created jobs and 86 integrated people.

These works were selected by the City in accordance with the needs of the municipality, as the arrangements cover City Hall or the sports court in Roche and Portman.

Also being carried out by the "Installation of doors windbreaks in several municipal buildings," the "Rehabilitation of the old schools of Roche for Ethnological Museum" and "Rehabilitation of laundry in the mine environment Vicenta Groups."

González Tovar has also reported that the new State Fund for Employment and Local Sustainability to be invested in 2010, will involve a further economic boost for the city of 1,849,393 euros.

Be carried out 15 construction projects valued at 1.4 billion euros and 4 social spending programs valued at 370,000 euros, providing for the creation of 83 new jobs and benefit more than 6,500 people.

"In total, the Union Minister of Spain receives more than 4.7 million in just two years: the largest investment in the Union by any government in such a short time and which clearly reflects the will of the President municipalist Zapatero has said.

Current status of state funds in 2009 and 2010 in the Region of Murcia

The delegate of the Government has used the visit to inform the Government of Spain has already paid the full amount of 556 works from the State Fund of 2009, representing 82 percent of the total projects submitted, totaling 673.

Tovar Gonzalez recalled that the Fund has created 13,200 direct jobs across the region.

In this regard, he stated that "the 2009 Fund is meeting the objectives of boosting the economy, job creation and improvement of local infrastructure, particularly in the construction sector, being the hardest hit by the crisis" .

As for the new State Fund, 2010, González Tovar indicated that involves an injection of an additional € 154.1 million to municipalities in the region.

"In just two years, municipalities in the Region of Murcia will receive from the Government of Spain over 400 million euros to boost the economy, create jobs and improve our towns and cities in a time of economic difficulty in which government public should be an example of effective management, "said González Tovar.

Councils in the region have already been approved by the Government of Spain for the start of the 729 projects submitted to this new State Fund.
