The Mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, Councilmember of Social Services, Mary Hermogenes, and Councilwoman Institutional Relations, Juana Sanchez, closed, on 9 April, the Third Conference of the Roma, with special mention to act "Our Aunties.
The honorees were Joaquina Garrido Muñoz, Dolores Garrido Muñoz, Joaquina Escudero Sáez, Francisco Santiago Marin, Maria del Rosario James and Dolores Fernández Fernández Muñoz.
The week of activities organized by the Department of Social Services City of La Union for three consecutive years through the Roma Development Plan has provided for holding a cooking contest on traditional dishes, cultural tours, music and more.
These seminars are intended to help eliminate prejudices and stereotypes created about the Roma community and to promote equality and tolerance between cultures.
On Thursday April 8 was held on International Roma Day.
This date was institutionalized by the flag and anthem Roma in the First World Congress in London in 1971.
