A new collector of 1.5 kilometers in length will prevent flooding in two districts of La Union (14/05/2009)

The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, and the mayor of La Union, Francisco Bernabé, today inaugurated the new collector to collect rainwater evacuate rainwater and solve the problem of flooding in the neighborhoods of El Garbanzal and Oliveras of the municipality.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Water has invested 1.4 million euros in the construction of the collector of 1.5 kilometers in length, with which it solves "a problem for many years caused much inconvenience to the residents of these areas "explained the Minister of Agriculture.

The works, which began last September, has involved the construction of an outfall pipe, large diameter and 1,500 feet long and a collection channel 500 meters.

The new collector collects rainwater from the promenade of Cabezo Rajao and severe headache, and leads to the Rambla del Miedo, in the Torreblanca area where it meets the network of pipes.

Moreover, the Minister announced that it has begun the bidding process for the tertiary treatment system for purification of La Union, which "will improve the quality of reused water."

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water is developing the new treatment plant projects Portman.
