Reopened the road Cartagena-La Union and Main Street at its 150 th Anniversary (30/11/2008)

A march led by the Mayor of La Unión, Bernabe Francisco, the Mayor of Cartagena and national deputy, Pilar Barreiro, and the Director of Public Works, José Ballesta, from the hamlet of La Esperanza to the center of town, has served to symbolize the 150 th anniversary of the construction of the "Camino de Cartagena to the Blacksmith" and the opening of the main street of the mining town with its current configuration.

The journey has started from the exact point that separates the municipalities of La Union and Cartagena, where Francisco Bernabé stated intention to "transform the road linking the two cities on a wide avenue called Sierra Minera, which will include sidewalks, lane bike, street lamps and benches, making it possible to walk from the neighbors. "

For its part, the Director of Public Works, José Ballesta, has referred to this project stating that it "could be approved next year."

At the end of the trail, at the intersection of Main Street and Calle Bailen, Francisco Bernabé, José Ballesta Pilar Barreiro and have carried out the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the event which includes the permanent bond of brotherhood between the municipalities of La Union and Cartagena.

This ceremony also involved the regional deputy, Juan Antonio Sánchez Castañol, the official chronicler of the Union, Francisco Rodenas and favorite son of the municipality, in the presence of many neighbors.

The day ended with a concert Argentum Polyphonic Choir, held at the Auditorium of the City of La Union, which was attended by Francisco Bernabé, José Ballesta, and Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Agustín Guillén.
