The Civil Guard detained six people for possession of a submachine gun (23/10/2014)

The operation ended with the arrest of two other people, also related to the alleged authorship of crime of illegal possession of weapons and belonging to a criminal organization

The seized submachine gun is a weapon of war, the acquisition, possession and use by individuals is prohibited

The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia, has developed since the middle of July, the operation 'TANGANYIKA' research aimed at establishing an offense of illegal possession of weapons, which culminated with the arrest of six people five boys of Spanish nationality and a woman of Moroccan nationality, in addition to the seizure of a submachine gun and 25 cartridges.

Those arrested are credited with authorship of the alleged crime of illegal possession of weapons and belonging to a criminal organization.

The proceedings began last July, when investigators were on the trail of an individual with a criminal record for numerous drug offenses, fraud and receiving (buying stolen goods), which usually moved in tourism between various locations in the Region of Murcia.

Police set on suspect devices were deadly when members of the Civil Guard, in cooperation with local police in La Union, identified the occupants of a car that ran abnormally on the N332, passing through the town of Cartagena of Alum.

The vehicle carrying four people, three men and one woman, aged between 27 and 50 years, some of them with a history of drug trafficking offenses.

Once identified, the policemen proceeded to the consideration of tourism, where it was found a weapon of war, type submachine gun and 25 cartridges.

The possession of such weapons is regulated by the Royal Decree of 29 January 137/1993 Article 6 of Regulation de Armas, as a weapon of war whose acquisition, possession and use by individuals is prohibited.

Given this finding, the Meritorious proceeded to the arrest of four people on suspicion of the crime of illegal possession of weapons and belonging to a criminal organization.

The investigations carried out by researchers led to the arrest, in early October, two others men of 31 and 47 years old and residents of Mazarrón, which have been associated with this crime.

The operation 'TANGANYIKA' has culminated in the arrest of six people, members allegedly a criminal organization based in Mazarrón, which are attributed authorship of the alleged crime of illegal possession of weapons and belonging to a criminal organization, as well as the seizure of 25 rounds of ammunition and a weapon of war, the acquisition, possession and use by individuals is prohibited.

Those arrested and the proceedings have been brought before the Court of Instruction number two in Cartagena (Murcia) and operated weapon has been deposited in the Central Weapons of the Civil Guard in Cartagena.
